Day 2 – Sept 21 - Tawau
Malaysia observations – the right hand laid carefully over
your heart is a greeting. The largest cumulus
clouds I’ve ever seen loom over the landscape in the afternoon. Hazy rain showers are visible over the water
in the distance. Birds, large and small,
species yet unknown to me, flutter and soar everywhere sharing airspace with
one another in their search for food.
The hectic pace of life is organized – workmen in
neon yellow vests were out this morning weed whacking around the exquisitely
manicured and sculpted shrubs along the roadway. Waiters ask if you would like your water warm
or cold. Warm is really warm – they heat
it up. Just Googled the hand-over-heart
greeting and found this bit of beauty, “Malaysians greet each other by shaking
hands and then placing your hand over your heart as a gesture that you have
embraced them in your heart.” (www.malaysiaonline.com.au)

What an AMAZING trip, Kit! I am totally going to follow you and live vicariously. Wow. Amazing! More pics, PLEASE!
